Council of Temporary Researchers

The Council is the highest representative body of Temporary Researchers at the University. The Council promotes and coordinates the participation of Temporary Researchers in the academic organization, counsels the governing bodies of the University, and submits proposals on matters concerning the role of Temporary Researchers.

The proposals put forward by the Council are submitted to the governing bodies of the University for assessment within their respective competencies. In particular, the Council expresses non-binding opinions on:

  • changes to the University Regulations for the recruitment of Temporary Researchers
  • changes to other Regulations governing teaching and scientific activities of Temporary Researchers
  • changes to the University Statute, on matters concerning Temporary Researchers.

The Council may submit independent proposals, motions or requests regarding:

  • the activities of Temporary Researchers
  • the assessment of Temporary Researchers' activities
  • how to communicate assessment outcomes to individual researchers
  • the conditions for their research activities
  • access to services and research calls.

The opinions and proposals referred to in points 4 and 5 of the Regulations are formalized by a resolution of the Council in plenary session. The Council is required to express opinions, and fulfil any other requirements, within 20 days of the request. The governing bodies of the University consider the opinions expressed by the Council.

The Council is composed of a representative of Temporary Researchers for each Department of the University and of the representatives of Temporary Researchers in the Academic Senate, who are members by right. Each member remains in office for two years and may not be re-elected.

The members of the Council are required to participate regularly in the Council sessions, and to justify any absences. If a member is unable to attend a session, he or she is replaced by the alternate member. The members of the Council are required to report regularly to Temporary Researchers of their respective Department on the Council activities, in writing or in a meeting.
