Workshop: neuroplasticity and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques
A.A. 2024/2025
Obiettivi formativi
The course will provide information on the underlying mechanisms of action, parameters settings and fields of application of the main non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) and an integrated system combining TMS and electroencephalography (TMS-EEG). Examples of use of these techniques in both research and clinical setting will be provided. Practical sessions in the lab will be planned. Individual/group works will be organized.
Risultati apprendimento attesi
The course will provide overall knowledge on the mechanisms of functioning of TMS, tDCS and TMS-EEG and their effects on neuroplasticity.
A practical session in the lab will provide a basic expertise on the use of NIBS, parameters settings, neuronavigation and data analysis
Students will be stimulated to think about the potential applications of these techniques in the domain of artificial intelligence through group work and critical discussion of scientific papers.
