Obiettivi formativi
General interest in gene expression, gene analysis and gene function in normal and pathological contexts.
The course will present the new developments for the analysis and control of gene expression. This will include in vitro and in vivo approaches that can be used in cells and living organisms.
A specific emphasis will be given to new aspects of gene regulation at a transcriptional and post-transcriptional level (RNA maturation and transport). The role of epigenetic regulation involving DNA methylation, post-translational histone modification, long and short non-coding RNA and histone variants in the control of gene expression will also be addressed.
Risultati apprendimento attesi
- Acquisition of up-to-date fundamental knowledge in the control of gene expression through lectures and discussion sessions.
- Analysis of scientific papers
- Introduction to bioinformatics tools with a series of tutorials to analyze genomic databases, with a specific application to the analysis of genome evolution.
