Obiettivi formativi
The course aims at:
- Analyzing the source of the European Labour Law;
- Examining the most relevant case law of the Court of Justice of the EU in this field;
- Understanding the challenges faced by the EU in order to balance the economic interests with the social needs;
- Applying the examined legal tools to the solution of practical cases;

By the end of the course, students should:

TEACHING METHODS
Lectures will take place on Microsoft Teams in synchronous mode, at scheduled times, and will be recorded and available on the same platform.
Information on how to access the lessons on Microsoft Teams and other teaching instructions will be uploaded to ARIEL, which you are advised to consult regularly.
If the health situation allows it, in compliance with the regulations in force, lessons may also be held in classroom (mixed mode); in this case, students will be promptly informed on ARIEL.
In any case, the lessons will be recorded and made available to students for the whole semester.
PROGRAMME AND REFERENCE MATERIAL
Both the programme and the reference material of the course are unchanged.
METHODS OF ASSESSING LEARNING AND EVALUATION CRITERIA
There are no changes to the methods for assessing learning and the assessment criteria.
The examination will take place orally on the Microsoft Teams platform.
If the health situation allows it, subject to the availability of classrooms and the necessary safety conditions, the examination will be held in the classroom.
However, students who are unable to travel will be able to take the examination remotely.
More precise indications and updates will be available on Ariel, which should therefore be consulted regularly.

In particular the course focuses on the study of the following topics:
- the right of free movement of workers
- the EU citizenship
- the analysis of the fundamental EU social rights
- the collective labour relations at the EU level
- the concepts of employer and employee at the EU level
- the EU principle of non-discrimination
- the employment policies of the EU
- the conditions of employment at the EU level
- the EU in the international perspective
In particular the course focuses on the study of the following topics:

Prerequisiti
The knowledge of the European Union Law is recommended but not mandatory to attend the course.
Metodi didattici
The teaching activity will be delivered through frontal lessons, supported by slides downloadable from ARIEL, in which a constant interaction with the students will be required.

Students are required to study the material available on ARIEL.
Modalità di verifica dell’apprendimento e criteri di valutazione
The expected learning outcomes will be ascertained through an oral exam which will tend to verify the student's ability to apply the knowledge acquired in class.
To pass the exam an assessment of at least 18/30 is required.
The final grade may be refused by the students who will be allowed to resit the exam the next session.
The evaluation criteria will be related to the student's ability in re-elaborating the notions acquired.
