Learning objectives
The educational objective of the course is to provide students fundamental knowledge of human nutrition in the area of Gastroenteric Physiology, metabolism of macro and micro nutrients, recommended dietary references intakes, assessment of food intake and nutritional trends.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will know the basic knowledge concerning the anatomy and human physiology in particular on gastroenteric physiolgy, and neuroendocrinal control of food intake and human nutritional requirements.

Anatomical and physiological aspects of gastrointestinal system: digestion and absorption mechanisms. Protein metabolism and evaluation of protein quality Dietary carbohydrate and glucose metabolism Dietary fatty acids and lipid metabolism Vitamins and minerals: nutritional aspects Recommended dietary references intakes (LARN) and Guidelines Dietary assessment Energy needs: assessment and requirement in Human. Concepts of balanced diet and healthy eating

Written multiple choice test with threshold, 60 questions with 4 options) and oral examination.
