PhD International Mobility

Innovative Training Networks (ITN) - Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks (ITN) Actions, under the Horizon 2020 European programme, are aimed at creating research training courses of excellence

Early Stage Researchers (ESR) are usually selected in international contexts. They are admitted to doctoral programmes following the publication of a specific call for applications issued by the University of Milan, according to different schedules.

Co-supervision of doctoral theses

The co-supervision of doctoral theses is an ad-hoc agreement in favour of a doctoral student, signed between the University of Milan and a partner University. Under this agreement:

  • the doctoral student carries out his/her research activity under the joint responsibility of the supervising professors of the two Universities;
  • the doctoral student must be enrolled in the first year of the programme in order to carry out the study and research activity at both Universities for equivalent periods;
  • the doctoral thesis will be presented only once in a single venue before a Board including members from both Universities;
  • the PhD title is issued by both Universities.
