Common training objectives (or common core)
Students must have acquired formal knowledge in the general disciplines that contribute to the training of specialists in Oral Surgery, Orthodontics and Paediatric Dentistry and of key disciplines characterizing the clinical-diagnostic aspects of emergency and first aid medicine
Core training objectives
-Deepen knowledge of biological and medical disciplines pertaining to the anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the dento-maxillofacial region, with particular reference to development and growth, as well as the formative and morphological conditioning mechanisms of the dento-maxillofacial complex and interactions with the Soma appliance;
-Learn and acquire the skills to apply statistical and statistical-epidemiological methods
School-specific training objectives
-Comprehensive knowledge of clinical and instrumental diagnosis, the physiopathology of the dento-maxillofacial region and related aspects of prevention and treatment:
-In-depth knowledge of dental semeiotics, including the use of clinical and instrumental devices;
-Identification of useful diagnostic pathways for classifying the various disorders of the stomatognathic system in children and adolescents (alterations in deciduous teeth, permanent and immature permanent teeth, diseases of the periodontium, mucous membranes, bone bases, and temporomandibular joints, dental development alterations and dento-skeletal alterations related to bad habits in deciduous and mixed dentition);
-Independent clinical management - including child behaviour management - of the most common diseases in specialist paediatric dentistry, also involving pathologies of general interest, and ability to recognise cases that require specialist referral (ENT - Ophthalmology - Locomotor system - Dermatology - Infectious diseases - Hematology - Diseases of the Respiratory System - Endocrinology - Gastroenterology - Child Neuropsychiatry - Diseases of the Cardiovascular System, etc.). To this end, students must have acquired satisfactory theoretical knowledge and professional skills to recognise and treat, including in emergency-critical care conditions, the most common disorders of the stomatognathic system;
-Acquisition of specific skills for the prevention, interception and treatment of malocclusion, dental cavities, and periodontal and oral mucosal diseases;
-Ability to adopt multidisciplinary approaches in paediatric dentistry and other disciplines included in the specific scientific-disciplinary sector in which the Postgraduate School operates;
-In-depth knowledge of loco-regional and systemic implications related to the treatment of paediatric patients affected by diseases of other systems and organs, including rare diseases.
Related, additional and interdisciplinary objectives
-In-depth knowledge of the basic principles of diseases related to alterations of the dento-maxillofacial region;
-In-depth knowledge of the foundations of legal medicine and its various aspects, including clinical bioethics;
-In-depth knowledge of professional responsibility associated with clinical practice, the guiding principles of legislation regarding minors and related professional duties;
-In-depth knowledge of the basic principles of healthcare management;
-In-depth knowledge of the legislation governing healthcare organisation;
-Acquisition of knowledge regarding the organisation of health and social care services for children and adolescents and the principles underlying the management of health services and the planning of health-related interventions;
-Acquisition of useful computer skills, in particular for the management of diagnostic data and treatment planning;
-In-depth knowledge of the English language, at a high enough level to understand international publications and stay up-to-date

Il concorso, per titoli ed esami, è espletato localmente dai singoli Atenei.
Accesso per i laureati Magistrali in Odontoiatria e Protesi Dentaria (Classe LM 46), per i laureati specialistici in Odontoiatria e Protesi Dentaria (Classe 52/S) e per i laureati del vecchio ordinamento in Odontoiatria e Protesi Dentaria.
È inoltre richiesto il possesso del diploma di abilitazione all'esercizio della professione o che conseguiranno l'abilitazione entro la 2° sessione dell'anno 2019
