The course will discuss different approaches to develop experimental models for psychiatric disorders, such as depression and schizophrenia. We will use an integrated approach to discuss advantages and limitations of these model. The main topics of the course will be:
- From etiological mechanisms to the development of experimental models.
- Behavioral and functional validation of experimental models.
- Anatomical bases of mental illness with the description of key techniques to manipulate specific circuits involved in psychopathology
- The use of transcriptomic approaches to identify molecular mechanisms altered in experimental model of disease
- RNAseq: from samples processing to Data Analyses
- Use of different Database and software to build up network and pathways.
