This course aims at giving an overview of the protocols characterizing the stage of the clinical development of a candidate drug that emerged from the previous phases of the drug discovery process (hit identification, hit to lead, lead to clinical candidate), whose main features have been the subject of recent courses for PhD students in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Colleagues from companies, with a consolidated expertise in the field, will illustrate the relevant steps of the clinical development from the different, complementary viewpoints (synthetic and analytical medicinal chemistry, technology, pharmacology and toxicology, regulatory aspects). Selected case examples will also be presented and discussed.
Lessons are almost entirely organized with the contribution of colleagues coming from the industrial research world.
