Short Course - Metabolomic Approaches in Agricultural Science: from Sample Extraction to Bioinformatic Analysis
A.Y. 2022/2023
Course offered to students on the PhD programme in
Visit the PhD website for the course schedule and other information
Lead instructor: Fabrizio Araniti
The course will address the following topics:
1) Knowledge of the main extraction techniques (steam extraction, maceration, extraction with supercritical fluids, etc.), the bio-guided fractionation method for the isolation of biologically active complexes and the main techniques for the identification (GC-MS, HPLC, NMR, etc.) of the main classes of primary and specialised metabolites.
2) Understanding how metabolomics technology (targeted and untargeted) could enhance research in agricultural science.
3) Relate metabolomics technologies to their research interests.
5) Knowledge about analysing raw spectra (MSDIAL) and bioinformatic techniques used to handle, analyse and interpret metabolomics data.
4) Critically evaluate the peer-review research in metabolomics. Further information can be found at the following link: https://sites.unimi.it/dottorato_aab/educational-activities.html
