The course is intended as a first approach to corpus linguistics as a tool for linguistic analysis. After a brief introduction to the discipline (definition of corpus, presentation of existing types of corpora, possible approaches, functionalities of some analysis tools etc.), the lectures will illustrate through case studies the possible applications in the fields of discourse linguistics, specialised languages, lexicography etc.).
