This course focuses on the fundamental aspects of pathogen-host interactions in animal and plant organisms covering the biological mechanisms and processes leading to pathogenesis and disease. The course will take place through lectures by instructors with direct research experience on pathogenesis mechanisms. Topics covered include:
- Virulence factors of pathogenic organisms and pathogenesis mechanisms.
- host response and immunity to pathogens; innate and acquired immunity. Response to pathogens by plant organisms.
-Pathobiology of infection and survival strategies in the host of pathogenic organisms.
-Modulation of the host's immune response
-Molecular evolution in pathogens.
