The course will introduce the metagenomic methodologies applied to the study of environmental microbial communities with the aim of evaluating their role in environmental ecosystems and their potential for environmental biotechnologies. The lessons will focus on the diversity and dynamics of microbiomes associated to plants, insects, soil, water and environmental biofilm, and their exploitation in plant growth promotion, plant protection, bioremediation. Elements of environmental genomics and metataxonomics will be also discussed.
