Learning objectives
The course consists of lectures (corso monografico) and practical language classes (esercitazioni). Lectures aim to focus, working on materials in Russian language, on the nature of complex system of literary texts in prose and film texts, considering a theoretical approach and carrying out a structural and linguistic analysis of the materials. Attention will also be paid to the influence of extralinguistic variables on the language used, as well as to the difference between norm and linguistic use and to their value from the perspective of textual analysis with respect to the way in which communication is addressed. Lessons will also guide the student in the written drafting of textual analysis in Russian language.
Practical language classes will develop the skills to understand literary texts in prose and film texts, as well as to produce independently their oral and written analysis at B2 level.

Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding: at the end of lectures students will manage the concept of linguistic and textual complexity with reference to the literary texts in prose and to the film texts in Russian language. They will also have understood how extralinguistic variables can influence the linguistic choices made in texts, as well as the role of linguistic use in orienting communication. Moreover, students will have developed the vocabulary and structures necessary to analyze texts in Russian.
Applying knowledge and understanding: at the end of lectures students will be able to analyze from linguistic and structural points of view literary texts in prose and film texts in Russian language, using the correct structures. They will also be able to connect the linguistic choices made in the texts to the extralinguistic variables and to comment, referring to the analyzed materials, the value of such linguistic choices from a communicative perspective.
The practical language classes will develop in students the skills in understanding the types of texts studied during the lessons and to analyze them in Russian autonomously (in written and oral forms). The developed linguistic skills will correspond to the fourth level (B2) of the official standard established by the Council of Europe for the knowledge of foreign languages.
