Fundamentals of Sound and Digital Music

Learning objectives
The course provides the fundamental concepts related to the digital processing of sound and musical information. Particular attention is paid to the digital representation of audio and related formats, communication protocols for audio and music, and fundamental techniques of sound synthesis and analysis. A secondary objective is to introduce students to commonly used software tools and environments in the field of audio and music programming.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student should master the fundamental concepts related to the digital representation of audio and related formats, communication protocols for audio and music, fundamental techniques of sound synthesis and analysis. The student should also be able to apply these concepts to the resolution of practical problems using the tools and the software environments presented in classroom.
