Anthropology of Musical Performance

Learning objectives
The course aims to introduce to the study of the musical practices and the sound as cultural aspect. The perspective is that of the anthropology of music, considered as disciplinary area between musicology and cultural anthropology, in connection with the sound studies. The main focus will be the performative elements that characterize musical and sound practices.
The monographic topics of each year will be the occasion for analysis of specific cases, in relation to their cultural contexts.

Expected learning outcomes
At the end, the students have acquired knowledge of the methods and perspectives of the discipline, with particular reference to the monographic topic introduced each academic year.
