Learning objectives
The course aims to provide an overview of the socio-political and economic situation of contemporary Spain in international relations, through the reading and analysis of a series of current texts in Spanish. The course aims to ensure that students acquire the key concepts of the aforementioned professional fields, the vocabulary necessary to express them to specialist and non-specialist interlocutors, as well as the skills of critical analysis of the phenomena of the Spanish reality in the international arena.
At the same time, the acquisition of the grammatical and syntactic structures of the Spanish language until the b1 (intermediate) level is reached, according to the certification parameters proposed by the Council of Europe; in particular, the learner must be able to read, understand and translate texts of medium difficulty and to develop oral production in professional contexts.

Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student must achieve a linguistic competence not lower than the B1 level of the European Framework of Reference. In addition, it will be able to expose the contents of the course in Spanish language and independently develop a conversation on specialized topics.

The assessment consists of:
Written Examen
1. computer-based grammar test (30 closed-answer questions: multiple choice and completion of sentences), aimed at ascertaining knowledge of grammatical and syntactical structures. Test duration 25 minutes.
2. short written composition, aimed at testing knowledge of grammatical structure and lexicon. Test duration 15 minutes.
ORAL EXAMEN
1. interview in Spanish on the topics concerning the study materials contained in the on-line lecture notes, aimed at verifying whether the student has learned the notions concerning the economic and socio-political panorama of Spain and Latin America, knows how to express them in a clear and precise way, using the correct terminology, and knows how to formulate his/her own judgement concerning the topics studied.
-The written exam is preparatory to the interview, which must be taken on the same day.
-Students can take the written test as an internal test at the end of the course.
