Learning objectives
The course aims to provide the following basic knowledge:
· the main techniques of Diagnostic imaging and oncological radiotherapy;
· the main indications and contraindications to Diagnostic imaging techniques, including the use of contrast media;
· the rules concerning the use of ionizing radiation, with reference to radiation protection, as required by the directives of the European Union (Legislative Decree 17 March 1995 No. 230 and 26 May 2000 No. 187).
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will have to know:
·the effect of ionizing radiation on biological organism;
·the principles and rules of the radiation protection of operators
·the principles and rules of the radiation protection of patients
·the general principles of imaging techniques for diagnostic purposes, with the use of ionizing radiation, ultrasound, magnetic fields, and radio frequencies
·the indications and contraindications of imaging tests
·indications and contraindications to the use of contrast media
·how to recognize an allergic reaction by contrast, and to know the principles of treatment
·Know the main interventional radiology techniques and the indications and contraindications to the different procedures
·the general principles of Oncological Radiotherapy techniques
·the types of adverse events that can occur in the departments of Radiodiagnostics, Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy.

Prerequisites for admission
With reference to the Didactic Regulations (art.20), To access the second year, it is essential to have achieved at least four exams of which:
- biological, physiological and morphological sciences
- linguistic, philosophical and socio-pedagogical sciences
- applied speech therapy sciences: propaedeutics
The student must also have passed the first year traineeship exam.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The learning assessment takes place through a written test with multiple choice questions. The test lasts 1 hour. The evaluation criteria used will be the ability to list and organize the knowledge acquired and their application for the resolution of short questions.
The assessment of the course will be expressed as suitable / unsuitable. The results of the tests will be communicated to the students by electronic report.
