Expected learning outcomes
Students who will have learnt the material covered in the course will have acquired the skills needed to use the economic theory for the purpose of analyzing the main features and structure of the tax system and the welfare state.

Face-to-face classes on the following topics:
externalities and public goods; collective choice theory; taxation and income distribution; taxation and efficiency; taxation and the equity-efficiency trade-off; taxation and individual behavior; the personal income tax in Italy; the corporate tax in Italy; the VAT in Italy; public deficit, public debt and the long-run sustainability of public debt.

Basic knowledge of microeconomics.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Written exam. Passing grades range from 18 to 30 cum laude. Grades will be communicated through the on-line verbalization procedure; students can refuse the grade and repeat the exam.
