Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with:
i) the scientific and cultural tools about physiopathology, psychopathology, clinical aspects and therapeutic strategies of the main psychiatric disorders;
ii) information concerning the main models of the mind, the related psychotherapeutic interventions and the main psycho-diagnostic tools;
iii) the deontological and legal aspects of the psychiatric care in Italy.
Expected learning outcomes
Students have acquired the tools:
i) to identify the main psychiatric disorders;
ii) to choose the therapeutic strategies;
iii) to act directly or by referring the patient to the appropriate health care professionals accordingly to the deontological and legal aspects of the psychiatric care in Italy.

It is highly advisable to have completed courses and exams up to the fourth year
Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam consists in the oral discussion of a clinical case, during which the semeiological, diagnostic and clinical-therapeutic skills of the student will be evaluated by the Commission.
There are no ongoing tests.
The evaluation, which includes the topics of the course, is communicated immediately at the end of the oral exam.

Psychopathology
The interview and the collection of the anamnesis; Indications for investigations
Mood Disorders: Depressive Disorders and Bipolar Disorders and their pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments
Anxiety Disorders and their pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Drug Treatment Related Disorders
Disorders related to traumatic and stressful events
Somatic Symptom Disorders and Related Disorders
Eating Disorders
Spectrum Disorders of Schizophrenia and Other Psychotic Disorders and their Pharmacological and Non-Pharmacological Treatments
Psychoactive substance use disorders and their pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments
Personality Disorders their pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for each Disorder, the following will be treated: the clinic (anamnesis, symptoms, course, prognosis, epidemiology), instrumental investigations if indicated and pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies

Teaching methods
Each credit includes hours of frontal and innovative teaching. The innovative teaching activities consist in the deepening of specific topics of the course syllabus, that will be selected by the students and the teacher. Such activity will be carried out in active collaboration between students and teacher.
Innovative teaching: some scientific papers will be delivered to small groups of students, each of them having the task to draw up a mini-review.
Mini-reviews will be analyzed and considered for the purpose of the exam.
