Learning objectives
-to acquire the ability to recognize the main changes in behavior and subjective experiences in the geriatric age and the main psychopathological disorders in the elderly;
-to improve the knowledge of the main conditions of mental disorder and acquire the ability to adopt targeted interventions, from a healing and rehabilitative point of view;
- to acquire the ability to establish and maintain supportive relationship with the patient and with his / her family members, adopting the main principles of relational dynamics;
-to study the specific rehabilitation techniques for the geriatric age;
- to acquire the ability to collaborate in the planning and improvement of rehabilitative interventions, adopting targeted methods in elderly's support.
Expected learning outcomes
-to learn how to recognize mental disorder in the elderly and learn how to guide rehabilitative interventions, in order to set proper treatments;
-to acquire the ability to establish correct relationship with caregivers; to know how to adopt rehabilitation techniques in geriatrics.

- presentation of the concept of rehabilitation in the elderly starting from the bio-psycho-social model
- historical notes and epidemiological dimension of the problem
- explanation of the concept of frailty and clinical hints regarding depression in the elderly
- types of rehabilitation intervention for the depressed elderly subject (psychological approach, psychomotricity, psycho-sensory stimulation, art therapy, etc.)
- prognostic aspects and limits of the rehabilitation intervention in elderly depressed subjects
- presentation of some clinical cases
