Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to Introduce the student to the profession
At the end of the training period, the student must be able to use all the theoretical knowledge acquired during the courses of:
· Optics
· Physiopathological optics
· Anatomy, Ocular physiology and physiopathology
Expected learning outcomes
In the end of the first year of placement, the student must demonstrate
to be able to use all the knowledge acquired during the course of:
- Visual Optics (includes the effects of lenses and prisms and how they can be used therapeutically)
- Pathophysiology of the eye (physiology of vision, eye movements and binocular vision)
- Anatomy and Pathophysiology of the eye (focusing on the eye
and brain)

Course syllabus
At the end of the first year, the student must have acquired the theoretical-practical knowledge:
To develop ethically correct behavior and conduct as a health professionist
To acquire the correct use of of tecnological supports present in Ophthalmological services
To Learn the refractive examination in adulthood and childhood
To learn the correct use of lensometer
To learn the measure of pupil distance
To learn the measure of optical alignment
To learn the correct use of optical frame and all trial lenses
The correct use of lensometer
To learn the correct evaluation of objective and subjective refractive examination
To learn the correct use of AR and ARK
Know how to correctly interpret AR e ARK data
Knowing how to perform a cycloplegia schiascopy and know how to interpret the data
Knowing how to carry out objective proof of refraction and knowing how to use data;
Knowing how to correctly determine the vision through the correct use of refractometric data.

No prior knowledge required
Teaching methods
Starting from the lectures, theoretical knowledge becomes experiential with the guided internship activities through the daily support of tutors in the eye clinic. Exercises, seminars, simulations, group work, preparation of papers and / or research are planned , analysis of clinical cases

The preparation is based on the slides provided by the teacher an available on the Ariel website and on the raccomended books

Assessment methods and Criteria
Extensive clinical training will be performed from October to September.
Through "knowledge","know-how" and "knowing-how to be" will be assesed the learnig outcomes.The final judgement will be expressed in thirtieth based on the average of three evaluation sheet
