Course syllabus
· Congenital and hereditary disorders.
· Local and systemic response to damage. Repair by healing, fever, shock.
· Cellular pathology. Adaptation, response, damage. Accumulation diseases. Cell death: apoptosis and necrosis.
· Acute inflammation: vascular phase, adhesion molecules and chemotaxis, chemical mediators.
· Chronic inflammation: cell mediators, granuloma, fibrosis.
· Blood disorders: anaemia, haemophilia, hemostasis and thrombosis.
· Innate and acquired immunity. Humoral and cell-mediated immunity.
· Immunopathology: hypersensitivity reactions. Immunological tolerance, autoimmunity and immunodeficiency.
· Carcinogenesis. Induced oncogenesis: chemical, physical and viral.

Clinical aspects and study of the etiopathological factors of the main microbial pathologies in dentistry and of general interest, with particular reference to:
· Bacteriology: Streptococci, Staphylococci, Lactobacilli, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisserie, anaerobic bacteria
· Virology: Herpesvirus, Papillomavirus, Orthomyxovirus and Paramyxovirus, hepatitis virus, retrovirus and HIV, Coronavirus
