Learning objectives
The course aims at giving the students an advanced knowledge on the main types of medical devices and in vitro medical-diagnostic devices managed by community and hospital pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals. The classification, composition and functions of medical devices as well as related regulatory aspects will be illustrated. An in-depth analysis will be devoted to the structural features and stability of polymeric materials used in their production.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will have gained an essential knowledge on the management of medical devices and in vitro medical-diagnostic devices, in the framework of the national and European rules regulating their production and control. Moreover, based on the knowledge of the structural and functional properties of polymeric materials, they will be able to face the main problems related to the use of polymeric-based products.
