Learning objectives
This course aims to develop reading and writing skills as well as metalinguistic skills through the analysis of expository and argumentative texts. Lectures will focus on the most significant phenomena of contemporary Italian, as well as on the legal language. Students are expected to reach proficiency in Italian at C1 level. Exercises aim to improve production skills, both orally and in writing, as well as mediation skills between the varieties and registers of the Italian language. The final goal is to train qualified and culturally aware language specialists, in line with the objective of the study programme.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students will have reached proficiency in Italian at C1 level under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). They will be able to understand and produce clear and organised expository/argumentative texts on different topics inherent to their field of interest and study, as well as to evaluate information and arguments from different sources, summarising and reporting information in a clear and fluent way. They will be aware of the dynamic nature of the Italian language, and will have adopted a critical approach to lexicographic tools.
