Learning objectives
The aims are:
- to list the main laws governing the organization of the national health service and indicate the relevant contents;
- to describe the organizational models of the rehabilitation structures and have knowledge of their management for resource optimization;
- to identify the principles of hygiene and prevention of infections, particularly in a hospital environment;
- to indicate the main rules governing the prevention of public health in the workplace, with particular attention to what pertains to rehabilitation;
- to list the main rules of professional ethics of the physiotherapist and indicate their contents;
- to define the responsibilities that the physiotherapist has towards the patient, colleagues and other health figures;
- to adopt appropriate behavior to comply with these rules and responsibilities.
Expected learning outcomes
at the end of the course the student will be able to know the main legislative rules that regulate the NHS at an organizational, prevention and treatment level and will be able to contribute to a clinical governance process based on quality, efficiency and effectiveness. In addition, the student will also know the rules and behavior useful to respect the patient, family members and colleagues, in line with the ethical principles of the physiotherapist profession.

The knowledge of legislative standards regulating the organization of the national health serivice.
The organizational health and rehabilitative care models, their management aimed at resource optimization.
The principles of Hygiene and infection prevention, in particular in the hospital setting.
The main principles regulating public health prevention in work settings, with particular focus on rehabilitation.
The main legal standards in professional physical therapy deontology.
The duties and the responsibilities of the phisical tehrapist to patients, colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
The proper professional conduct aimed at respecting the aforementioned rules and responsibilities.

Course syllabus
Health/disease determinants; causes and risk factors; epidemiology and epidemiological methodology; health promotion and disease prevention; principles of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention; prevention of communicable diseases (notification and surveillance, isolation, diagnostic assessment, disinfection and sterilization, vaccines and vaccinations, etc.); prevention of chronic diseases (screening); epidemiology and prevention of the main vaccine preventable diseases.
Teaching methods
The program will be carried out through lectures with the aid of didactic material (slide and/or video projections). All teaching materials will be available on the Ariel platform on the dedicated website.
