Teaching methods
The specialised translation course is characterised by workshop teaching based on analysis and plenary sharing of the translated text. Self-correction and collaborative translation, which are strongly encouraged, always precede the final correction by the lecturer. Students are sent short texts of a literary or non-fiction/literary nature to be translated independently before the lesson. In the course of the lesson, the translations are read, commented on and finally corrected through a precise analysis of the translation choices made and a critical comparison with the translations of the other students, so that each participant acquires an awareness of the act of translation as a process of revision and critical reworking of the text.
The reflections and possible in-depth studies on theoretical principles and translatology in general - the natural completion of good translation practice - emerge from time to time starting from the texts and text types.
During the course, students will be provided with supplementary teaching material (theoretical and non-theoretical) that will be available on the Ariel portal and on the course Teams link.
