Learning objectives
To provide knowledge about the spread and impact of peri-urban agriculture particularly on family and multifunctional farms that produce food of animal origin. Moreover the workshop will also provide knowledge of the concept of short supply chain and its social significance
Expected learning outcomes
Students will learn the basic concepts of multifunctionality, animal husbandry, animal health, and welfare in a peri-urban context.
At the same time, they will be able to learn how to contribute to the goals of environmental sustainability, urban regeneration, energy conservation, climate change resilience, and increasing the rate of "zero-mile" food sourcing.
The student will be able to learn how to foster service delivery for food producers in and around cities, support short food supply chains, and raise awareness about discards.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam will focus on the presentation of a periurban agriculture project by individual students or small groups (2/3 students).
Duration of the presentation: 30 minutes
- Assessment parameters: completeness of knowledge, ability to organize the project (description of need and feasibility, sustainability criteria etc.); ability to reason critically; quality of exposure, competence in the use of specific vocabulary.
