Course syllabus
The course contents are divided into two main components;
- the grammar and vocabulary topics from the book Business Partner B1+, thematically organised into the eight chapters (1) Organisation, (2) Brands, (3) Job-Hunting, (4) Business Strategy, (5) Logistics, (6) Entrepreneurs, (7) Working Abroad and (8) Leadership;
- the content of the articles (academic and non-academic) revolving around the forms of storytelling applied to marketing, assessed through theoretical contributions and case studies, which are available in the Selected Readings that will be uploaded to the platform Ariel (the Selected Readings also contain excerpts from the book Oxford Academic Vocabulary Practice: Upper-Intermediate B2-C1, which will be used during the workshops).
The programme is the same for both attending and non-attending students, but, considering the volume of the contents, attendance is highly recommended to ensure the gradual build-up of knowledge and language skills.
Prerequisites for admission
To successfully handle the course content, it is recommended that students review B1-level items of lexis and grammar.
Teaching methods
In order to reach the course aims, the programme will involve interactive lessons and workshops aimed at testing and developing the four skills (speaking, listening, writing and reading). To that end, students will be required to actively participate both as individuals and in small groups. At the end of the task, the lecturer will ask for feedback on the work produced to clear up any misunderstandings or supplement the reported outcome with further details.
