Learning objectives
The course is aimed at showing and discussing the most recent innovations in the context of the development and of the use of drugs. It will cover the need to implement the knowledge on innovative therapies and their use, especially in special populations such as kids, pregnant women, and elderly. It will also discuss the important role of implementing personalized therapies in medicine. In this context it will discuss how a better knowledge and investigation of the genome can be used in the prediction of the diagnosis, of the treatment response and of the development of side effects.
Expected learning outcomes
Better knowledge of the definition of special populations and how pharmacology has to adapt according to the clinical and medical features of the patient. Knowledge of the definition of precision medicine and of the techniques and of the prediction models that can be used to implement precision medicine in different pathologies. Knowledge of the existing limitations in the development and use of personalized therapies. Ability to critically analyze data in scientific literature on examples related to pharmacology in special population and related to personalized medicine.
