Learning objectives
The course covers topics in light athletics, examines the techniques and didactics, as well as the advances in modern theoretical concepts of training. The objective is to foster students' ability to develop and conduct physical activity and instruction in light athletics by combining its practical and theoretical aspects.
Expected learning outcomes
- Ability to observe and reciprocally correct
- Execute a variety of movements in track and field events, with the use of perceptive support in refining techniques (proprioception and transfer of sensorial data)
- Comprehension of the fundamentals of the various forms of light athletics and the ability to demonstrate them
- Ability to organize and plan training for learning the forms of light athletics in a coherent program based on athlete age and experience
- Ability to plan basic training in different forms of athletics

The course combines frontal lectures and practical exercises. During the practical exercises, students will learn didactic exercises graded to the student's ability.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Testing of learning and evaluation criteria
A passing grade on the following practical trials is necessary in order to take the final interview:
- Test of the ability to perform basic preparatory exercises (stride, jumps, imitative exercises, analytical and facilitative exercises)
- Timed 60-m dash with starting blocks
- Timed 1000-m run
- Timed 60-m hurdle race with starting blocks
- Javelin throw and jumping, with assessment of the execution
The final exam consists of an interview. Questions may include: describing the techniques of the specialties covered during the course and their history, presentation of preparatory exercises and grading for learning a specialty, explanation of common errors and suggestions for their correction, discussion about the means and methods of training in youth categories, examples of exercises for training more advanced athletes, explanation of the criteria and basic concepts underpinning the theory of training and its planning.
Evaluation will be based on: acquisition of theoretical skills, use of appropriate terminology and clarity of explanation, ability to connect theoretical and practical skills.
The final grade will be expressed in 30/30 points based on the results of the interview and the practical trials.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Testing of learning and evaluation criteria
A passing grade on the following practical trials is necessary in order to take the final interview:
- Test of the ability to perform basic preparatory exercises (stride, jumps, imitative exercises, analytical and facilitative exercises)
- Timed 60-m dash with starting blocks
- Timed 1000-m run with starting blocks
- Timed 60-m hurdle race with starting blocks
- Javelin throw and jumping, with assessment of the execution
The final exam consists of an interview. Questions may include: describing the techniques of the specialties covered during the course and their history, presentation of preparatory exercises and grading for learning a specialty, explanation of common errors and suggestions for their correction, discussion on the means and methods of training in youth categories, examples of exercises for training more advanced athletes, explanation of the criteria and basic concepts underpinning the theory of training and its planning.
Evaluation will be based on: acquisition of theoretical skills, use of appropriate terminology and clarity of explanation, ability to connect theoretical and practical skills.
The final grade will be expressed in 30/30 points based on the results of the interview and the practical trials

Assessment methods and Criteria
Testing of learning and evaluation criteria
A passing grade on the following practical trials is necessary in order to take the final interview:
- Test of the ability to perform basic preparatory exercises (stride, jumps, imitative exercises, analytical and facilitative exercises)
- Timed 60-m dash with starting blocks
- Timed 1000-m run
- Timed 60-m hurdle race with starting blocks
- Javelin throw and jumping, with assessment of the execution
The final exam consists of an interview. Questions may include: describing the techniques of the specialties covered during the course and their history, presentation of preparatory exercises and grading for learning a specialty, explanation of common errors and suggestions for their correction, discussion about the means and methods of training in youth categories, examples of exercises for training more advanced athletes, explanation of the criteria and basic concepts underpinning the theory of training and its planning.
Evaluation will be based on: acquisition of theoretical skills, use of appropriate terminology and clarity of explanation, ability to connect theoretical and practical skills.
The final grade will be expressed in 30/30 points based on the results of the interview and the practical trials.
