Learning objectives
The monographic course aims to provide students with the basic notions of theory and method of translation from French into Italian. The theoretical notions are completed by exercises in contrasting grammar and by a practical laboratory focused on translation of prose works texts (Literature and Humanities).
The exercises, dedicated to oral comprehension, the technique of résumé, as well as the preparation of the Diplôme du français du tourisme B2, aim to develop oral and written comprehension and expression skills in the students.
By the end of the course, students are expected to reach B2/C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the monographic course, the student will have acquired the tools to deal with the translation from French into Italian of a contemporary text into prose of medium difficulty with method and critical spirit.
Through the work carried out during the exercises, the student will also have developed oral and written comprehension and expression skills, equal to level C1 of the Common European Framework (CEFR).

The course consists of a monographic course, divided into three teaching units, and a cycle of exercises.
The aim of the course is to develop and attain skills in the field of tourism communication and precise theoretical and practical knowledge of the translation from Italian into French of texts of various kinds (non-fiction, literature, press, video).
The first two teaching units (Prof. Molinari) aim to present tourism communication in its complexity. In particular, the traits that characterise it at lexical and rhetorical level and the discursive strategies will be highlighted. The different textual genres through which tourism communication is expressed will also be presented. Particular attention will be paid to consolidating the skills of understanding written texts and oral production on the topics covered in the course.
The third didactic unit (Prof. Rossi) aims to introduce students to the theory and practice of translation from Italian into French, through an in-depth study of some critical points of translation practice, relating in particular to: the translation of the sense and the letter; the translation of the indefinite clitic pronoun on; the translation of the relative pronoun dont; the translation of the demonstrative pronoun ce; the translation of the participe présent and the gérondif; the temporal uses of the conditional and the translation of the prospective; the use and rendering of subordinating conjunctions.

Prerequisites for admission
To take the French Language 3 course, you must have passed the French Language 2 exam in its entirety or have obtained a sufficient mark in the written test. The oral test must be passed by the February 2023 session.
Teaching methods
During the monographic course, there will be hours of frontal teaching aimed at learning and consolidating tourism discourse analysis strategies and the practice of translating texts of various kinds. Students will be an active part of the lesson as they will carry out exercises in order to strengthen their skills.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The examination consists of a written test and an oral test, both compulsory.
(A) STUDENTS ATTENDING THE COURSE
1) WRITTEN TEST FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING THE COURSE
The written test for students attending the course is divided into three intermediate tests which will take place at the end of the first and second semester.
I SEMESTER
1. a test of technique du résumé
2. a test of dicta
3. a test of compréhension orale
Intermediate tests for attending students will take place at the end of the first and second semester. The result obtained, if positive, will be valid for 3 sessions.
Students who obtain a sufficient average in the three written tests will have access to the oral test.
2) WRITTEN TEST FOR STUDENTS NOT ATTENDING THE COURSE
The written test for students not attending the course is divided into three tests that take place every year in the dedicated appeals in May, September and January:

ORAL TEST FOR ALL STUDENTS
The oral test for all students consists of an interview in French on the texts indicated in the Bibliography of the monographic course (Moduli I-II-III)
