Learning objectives
T.U.1 - Environmental and landscape planning
The Teaching Unit 1 aims to provide knowledge to deal with rural areas analysis and planning, as well as to evaluate its consequences on environment and landscape. The course aims to provide the students with the cultural, normative, methodological and technical bases to deal with - also in multidisciplinary teams - the problems of landscape and environmental planning.
T.U.2 - Environmental management of livestock farms
The Teaching Unit 2 aims to provide the bases for the design of buildings and facilities for agricultural activities, which meet environmental sustainability requirements, in compliance with the environmental legislation in force and taking into account the requirements of technical and economic feasibility. Moreover, the objective is to train students in the application of the methods of analysis and assessment of the environmental performance of livestock farms, also aimed at environmental certification (ISO14000-EMAS).

Moreover, the objective is to train students in the application of the methods of analysis and assessment of the environmental performance of livestock farms, also aimed at environmental certification (ISO14000-EMAS).
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the students will have the following learning outcomes.
T.U.1 - Environmental and landscape planning
- Knowledge of the cultural bases of landscape planning;
- knowledge of reference norms, with particular regards to the Lombardy Region legislation;
- knowledge of methodologies, procedures and techniques to analyse and evaluate the characteristics of rural areas. - Knowledge of some practical example cases.
T.U.2 - Environmental management of livestock farms
- Knowledge of environmental legislation related to agricultural activity with particular reference to the application of the industrial emissions directive (IED) to livestock farms;
- criteria for choosing the best technologies available for reducing the environmental impact of agricultural activity;
- bases of environmental certification in agriculture and livestock (ISO14000 and EMAS);
- knowledge of the calculation tools for the evaluation of the environmental performance of the farms and for the definition of the integrated environmental management systems based on compliance with the regulations and environmental certification.
At the end of the course, students will have acquired the ability to critically address the topics addressed by preparing project reports, also deriving from group work, and to illustrate the work done through power point presentations. The tools and methodologies acquired by the students will allow them to independently address the topic of the course in their professional activity.
