Learning objectives
The course aims to illustrate the intensive systems of production applied to domestic birds and rabbits. The following major subjects will be described: economic relevance of the poultry and rabbit sector at national level, characteristics of the productive systems, management for poultry and rabbit meat production, management for table egg production, productive performance in selected animals reared in intensive systems.
Expected learning outcomes
The student must build up knowledge on the following subjects: organization of the poultry and rabbit production sectors, husbandry systems and management guidelines for poultry and rabbits in intensive farming, productive performance in different breeds/genetic lines for meat and egg production. Furthermore, the student has to acquire an appropriate terminology and to be conscious of its fundamental relevance for the correct professional communication.
