Learning objectives
The aim of the workshop is to analyze how cultural institutions operate, simulating the objectives, problems and contexts in which they act
Expected learning outcomes
During the workshop the activities carried out by cultural institutes will be illustrated, in particular the foundations and associations that operate in the nonprofit and third sector sectors, also to see what the spaces and opportunities for graduates in humanistic disciplines.
Starting from a preliminary analysis of the presence of these entities in Italy, of their history and their spread in recent years, their characteristics will be analyzed. A more specific examination of their activities will then be carried out through the presentation of concrete cases, experiences and initiatives. Part of the workshop will be dedicated to exercises carried out by students who will be invited to simulate some of the situations that you have to manage in cultural institutions from different points of view, from ordinary activity to internet presence, from the use of social media to everything related to the search for funds, from the identification of the paying agencies to the analysis of the notices up to the preparation of the applications and related reports; an aspect, the latter, which may also involve private companies to submit proposals to carry out activities of common interest (then the identification of potential partners or sponsors, the drafting of proposals, programs etc.).
Activities which, taken as a whole, invite reflection on cultural issues in which the institutions - with particular reference to institutions active in the field of historical knowledge - are to act, on the need to deal with new media, safeguarding aims and vocation.
Students unable to attend will be able to make use of the educational tools provided by the instructor on Ariel, investigate special readings proposed by the instructor to strengthen their knowledge, and of course contact the instructor both by email

Teaching Resources
The teaching material consists in the analysis of the sites of the various cultural institutions, in the examination of the statutes and budgets and in general of their activity and the ways in which it is communicated. Students will then be asked to simulate some of the situations that they are faced with in cultural institutions from different points of view: from ordinary activities to the presence on the internet, from the use of social media to everything related to fund raising.

Assessment methods and Criteria
- Method: evaluation at the end of the course
- Type of examination: in itinere assessment and at the end of the course, on the basis of the attendance of lectures and the writing of a short essay
- Evaluation criteria: ability to demonstrate and elaborate knowledge; ability for critical reflection on the completed work; quality of expression, competence in the use of specialised lexicon, efficacy, clarity.
- Type of evaluation method: approval of 3 cfu
The format of the assessment for students with disabilities should be arranged in advance with the lecturer
