Learning objectives
The educational objective of the course is to provide students to jargon and basic principles of economics and statistical sciences. In specific, the Economics module of the course aims the partecipants to acquire the knowledge of the laws describing behaviour and interaction among economic agents (families and firms) mainly at micro level (microeconomics) with a short outline at aggregated level (macroeconomics). The Statistics module of the course is aimed to provide students with knowledge in descriptive statistics, and partially of inferential statistics.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the students will be able to understand the contents of economic publications with reference to the problems of production, consumption and dynamics of agricultural and food product markets. Students will be able to correctly represent and read statistical information in tabular and graphical form.
Single course

This course cannot be attended as a single course. Please check our list of single courses to find the ones available for enrolment.

Teaching methods
THE COURSE WILL BE DELIVERED IN ITALIAN
For the economics part: lectures (in classroom or online), which will include both the theoretical part and the resolution of questions and exercises similar to those, proposed during the written test.
For the statistics part: Lectures (in classroom or online) which will deal with the theoretical aspects of the subject, completed with sessions (in classroom or online), with the resolution of questions and exercises similar to those proposed during the written test.
Attendance to the course is not mandatory, although recommended.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Assessment methods and criteria: Verification of learning objectives will take place through a written test covering both the economics and statistics programs. THE WRITTEN TEST WILL BE DELIVERED IN ITALIAN. For each of the two parts there are dichotomous answer questions (true / false) and multiple choice questions. For dichotomous answer questions and multiple-choice questions, wrong answers do not result in a negative score. If it is possible to take the written exams in attendance, the exam will contain, in addition to the questions, exercises. The assessment assigned to the exercises will take into account the correctness of the contents, the consistency of the answers provided with respect to to the questions asked, and the nature of the errors made during the exercise. The final mark, expressed in thirtieths, is the sum of the points obtained in the economics and statistics sections. The duration of the written exam in economics and statistics will depend on the possibility of taking the written exam in the presence, or electronically. This time can be increased for those students who are entitled to compensatory measures.
