Learning objectives
The course is aimed at foreign learners with an Italian language level at least equal to the B1 of the Common European Framework for Language Learning (QCE). The course aims to consolidate language skills in speaking/listening and writing/reading skills, corresponding to the QCE indicators. Texts of a narrative, descriptive and prescriptive nature will be considered in order to note and learn linguistic characteristics and, through metalinguistic observation, structural and grammatical elements of the Italian language. The contents of the lesson are then resumed and strengthened during the language drills co-logged to the course. The aim is consistent with the goal of the CdS to create a qualified professional figure of a culturally aware language expert.
Expected learning outcomes
In the process of acquiring, studens are encouraged to master the active and passive competence of Italian as a second language, with attention to some examples of languages for special purposes. At the end of the course, reading/listening skills will be enhanced to allow an intermediate level of linguistic interaction. The final exam will consist of a written test and an oral test, both aimed at ascertaining the acquisition of the content programmed and the written and spoken competences, verifying that the student has achieved the goal of teaching, which is that, consistent with the objective of the Course of Studies, to create a professional figure with qualified skills as a culturally conscious linguistic expert.

During the first semester of the a.y. 2020-21 the teaching will be exclusively at distance, both for the lessons of the official course and for the exercises. For the second half of the year, updated information will be provided on the basis of the evolution of the health situation. However, access to forms of distance learning will be guaranteed to all even when it is possible to fully re-enter.
For all the lessons and exercises the Teams platform is used, which is part of the Office 365 package that all students can download on their devices from the University website. Teams allows interaction modes that will be widely exploited.
The lessons of the official course and the exercises will be mainly frontal and synchronous mode. They will therefore be held during the times published in the official timetable.

Course syllabus
The course aims to consolidate language skills in speaking/listening and writing/reading skills, corresponding to the indicators of the Common European Framework of Language Learning. Texts of a narrative, descriptive, prescriptive, poetic (song) type are proposed in the lectures, starting from which, - with particular attention, but not exclusively - the verbal and the pronominal systems are approached.
In addition to the course, there are 60 hours of practice, which take place in the first and second semesters. The exercises are aimed at deepening the contents of the lessons and improving the comprehension and production skills, both written and spoken; they are also aimed at helping in the study of the texts of the program. For the exercises there are two different classes according to the level of the students (intermediate and intermediate-advanced). The subdivision of the students in the two classes is made on the basis of the results of the test of access to the course.

Teaching methods
The method used is communicative-textual. The approach and analysis of the texts make it possible to note and learn their linguistic characteristics and, by induction, through metalinguistic observation, structural and grammatical elements.

The exam is divided into two written tests (one partial in mid-December and another at the end of the course, in May) and an oral test, which can be accessed only after passing the written tests.

- the solution of application-type exercises, having similar content and difficulties to those dealt with in the exercises and during the course;
- creative writing exercises, with themes, language registers and communication purposes specified by the teacher.
The oral test consists of an interview on the subjects in the programme, aimed at ascertaining language skills and precise knowledge of the planned bibliography.
