Learning objectives
The third year will be particularly devoted to deepen the lexical knowledge of the students: technical and specialist vocabulary will be introduced as well as the reading, translation and linguistic analysis of different kind of texts such as literary, medical and tourist ones. If needed some grammar topics will be reviewed.
Expected learning outcomes
Students at the end of the three years course are expected to reach such a knowledge of both written and spoken to be able to: talk fluently of any kind of topics and activities related to everyday and common life, read any kind of text and being able to understand and translate it through the use of a bilingual dictionary. The students will be expected to know as many synonyms as possible and they are expected to master the Hindi language to such an extent to properly choose which synonym they had better use according to the person they are talking to and to the context and to the environment the conversation is taking place in.

In the first term of 2020-21, the course will be taught entirely online, as will language practice sessions ("esercitazioni"). For the second term, updates will be provided as soon as possible. Whether it will be possible to return to in-person lessons will depend on the evolution of the current health emergency. Online teaching will be delivered through the Teams platform, which is part of the Office 365 suite. The Office 365 package can be downloaded by UNIMI students from the university website free of charge. Teams has online interaction capabilities which will be fully exploited during classes. Students will be requested to fully participate in the suggested activities.
The main course classes will be primarily in lecture form and will be delivered live according to the timetable published on the MED website. Language practice sessions ("esercitazioni") will also be delivered live, at the appointed times. Updates on any issue concerning this course will be provided promptly and all updates and information will be published on the course website (Lingua Hindi 3 MED) on the Ariel platform. Students are strongly advised to check the course website regularly so as to be up to date will all information and instructions.

Course syllabus
At the beginning of the course the knowledege of Hindi grammar will be checked and reinforced.The concepts of tenses, verb conjugation, modals, comparatives etc will be analysed. In order to enhance the ability to use the language effectively special attention will be given to conditionals, causatives, post postions, declaration forms, repeats, reinforcement forms etc. Special attention will also be paid to the construction of words, especially "sandhi " and the use of prefix and suffix ( both of Sanskrit and Arabo-Persian origin. )Every effort will be made to increase vocabulary and to dwell on synonyms which are a very important part of the Hindi language.

Full mastery of the notions learned over the previous two years.

Course material will be introduced at the beginning of the course. Throughout the duration of the course the students will be given the notes of the subjects introduced and explained and all the course material.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The final exam includes a written test and also an oral one. It is necessary to pass the written test prior to appearing for the oral one. The written test consists of a translation from Hindi to Italian, a free writing on a given subject and a number of exercises related to vocabulary and comprehension. The oral test includes correcting the errors of the written test and an oral translation from Hindi to Italian of some sentences or a short dialogue from a film or a piece from a song etc. The student's ability to express himself/ herself will be tested through general conversation and Q&A related to everyday subjects .
