The course aims to provide a strong knowledge concerning:
- the fundamentals of the mechanisation for agriculture and forestry
- the main machines adequate to operate in mountain areas, included those for stables

- choose the most adequate machines for operating in the mountain agriculture and in forestry;

- to apply principles and rules related to occupational safety in mountain farms

If the emergency phase due to COVID-19 continues, there will be no changes in the teaching program or in the reference material. Lessons and face-to-face exercises will instead be replaced by lessons delivered in synchronous mode through the use of the Microsoft Teams digital platform, while the written exam will be replaced by an oral exam delivered through the same platform.
Course syllabus
The course program concerns the description of the main machines used in agricultural and forestry companies and a summary of the main types of renewable energy that can be produced by them.
1. The tractor (details about engine, transmission, hydraulic, electronic).
2. The main operating machines for the cereal sector and forage cultivation.
3. Coupling tractor-operating machine and its congruence. 4. Forestry machines

5. Safety and ergonomics in forestry
6. Method of use of forestry machinery, in Italy and in the countries that practice it with a higher degree of mechanization.
7. The main sources of renewable energy that can be produced by farms

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam is written and includes both exercises (18/30) and open-ended questions (12/30). In case of the students enrolled are less than 5, the appeal will take place at the headquarters of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, via G. Celoria 2, Milan.
If the needed, additional examination sessions may also be activated, subject to agreement with the teacher, at the Milan office.
