Italian Network of Universities for Peace
The University of Milan is a member of RUniPace, the national network of universities for peace promoted by the Italian Rectors' Conference (CRUI).
Along with its partners, the University of Milan reaffirms its adherence to the fundamental principles of the Italian constitutional system, the international and the EU systems, as well as international cooperation agreements of which Italy is part, namely:
- The repudiation of war as an instrument of offense to the freedom of other peoples and as a means of resolving international disputes
- Faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person
- The duty to cooperate in peace keeping and in preventing threats to peace
- The fight against inequalities and poverty.
As a member of RUniPace, the University becomes more involved in actions and processes that bring to the attention of the academic community and citizens the issues of building and consolidating peace, the unconditional use of peaceful means, and the social responsibility of all academic study and research disciplines in education for peace, non-violence, non-discrimination and dialogue.
The members of RUniPace work to promote interdisciplinary studies for peace, to build a culture of dialogue and inclusion, to enhance the role of women and young generations in peace processes, in line with the constitutional principles and the international principles of personal dignity, freedom, justice and democracy.
