The programme intends to map languages and practices and to design new cultural channels and new technological processes, products and tools for the dissemination of tangible and
intangible heritages, of memories of groups and places, of their languages and projects.
Given the new complexities and opportunities of the current context, cultural operators are expected not only to master the specific hard skills required to work in the cultural sector (project planning, budgeting, production, communication and use of different languages), but also soft skills such as:
-the ability to apply a critical, open-minded, multi-dimensional and holistic approach to cultural productions and their economic sustainability models;
-the ability to mediate between different actors (institutions, sponsors, content creators, partners, audiences) in the field of culture, with a view to create value and positive relationships between stakeholders;
- a result-oriented professional approach, along with team-working and problem-solving skills;
- a systemic approach to the opportunities offered by digital tools and new media for the development of new cultural production processes, formats and products.
Within such a context, required professional skills are characterised by an ever-growing degree of cross-disciplinarity, flexibility and adaptability. The vocational master programme in Public History aims to give students an overview of cultural work, from the first spark of an idea to its dissemination to contemporary audiences, as well a chance to experience first-hand the many processes contributing to the creation of cultural products, in particular those connected to historical contents and to the valorisation of historical cultural assets, under the guidance of renowned professionals in the industry. By the end of the coursework, and thanks to the practical experience gained during the final internship, students will be able to design and efficiently and coherently plan a cultural action, as well as to optimally contribute to all processes for the promotion and valorisation of the historical-cultural heritage.
