The vocational master's programme in Philosophy for Community is designed to develop professionals who will be able to apply their knowledge of philosophy of children, and of philosophy and human sciences in general, to work - or train others to work - in community settings such as prisons, recovery communities, community health centres, and any other educational and social settings where people experience marginalisation or a limitation of their rights. This learning pathway, which also entails practical training, is intended for those who aim to use philosophy to build a common knowledge base that goes beyond the walls of schools and universities, and is in fact applicable to any "community of enquiry", whether big or small. The focus of the programme is not only to shape students as people, but also to teach them to become trainers themselves. To this end, students will acquire expertise in a number of cross-disciplinary topics, ranging from ethics and practical philosophy to political issues, from pedagogy to the foundations of law, from anthropology to performative aesthetics and sociology.
The programme will start in the second semester of a. y. 2024/2025 and will comprise 198 hours of face-to-face teaching (corresponding to 33 CFU, i.e. university credits) and 306 hours of other forms of training (17 CFU), 72 of which will be delivered via e-learning. To complete the programme, students will have to take a 250-hour internship (corresponding to 10 CFU) and a final exam consisting of writing and defending a dissertation on a topic of their choice, in agreement with one of the instructors.
A total of 60 CFU are awarded for the programme.
The proposed tuition fee is EURO 3,716.00, inclusive of the insurance premium.

To be eligible for the programme, applicants must hold a Master's degree in one of the following classes pursuant to Ministerial Decree 270/2004: LM-1 Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology; LM-14 Modern Philology; LM-50 Development and Management of Education Services; LM-51 Psychology; LM-57 Adult and Continuing Education; LM-65 Performing Arts and Multimedia Productions; LM-78 Philosophy; LM-84 History; LM-85 Education; LM-87 Social Services and Policies; LM-88 Sociology and Social Research; LMG/01 Law.
At the end of the programme, students will be qualified to work as experts in the design and implementation of philosophy for children and philosophy for community activities, both inside and outside schools, or as education experts tasked with training future trainers. Moreover, they may work as experts in the dissemination of philosophical topics, adopting a methodological and heuristic approach that is not merely focused on the contents of the discipline, but concentrates more on training others to think differently and on promoting new teaching styles. The programme also prepare students to work in correctional facilities and other settings where people suffer a limitation of their rights, as a thorough knowledge of philosophy and human sciences is surely to be considered an added value for any professional working in those contexts.
