Starting from the Scheiwiller Archive preserved by the Apice Center of the University of Milan, the two-day conference aims to celebrate the ninetieth anniversary of the birth of Vanni Scheiwiller (1934-1999), an important publisher as well as art critic and journalist, active throughout the twentieth century, first alongside his father, Giovanni Scheiwiller (1889-1965, who was for a long time director of the Hoepli Bookshop and in 1936 founded the publishing house "All'Insegna del Pesce d'Oro") then taking over from him in 1951, and combining the already established production of refined art books with his own production with works of poetry and literature. In 1977, he also founded the publishing house Libri Scheiwiller. The imprint left by Vanni Scheiwiller on the cultural panorama of our twentieth century was incisive and profound and is on this occasion analyzed from unprecedented perspective angles thanks to the participation in the conference of important scholars among whom at least Carlo Ossola is mentioned.
