Developing the skills acquired during the first year of the course, the course "Representation and Image Theories II" examines the limits of traditional approaches to the image as a referential structure, focusing in particular on the dramatic changes brought about by new digital technologies in the field of aesthetics. These changes imply on the one hand an increasing overlap between images and physical reality (through augmented and mixed reality applications), and on the other hand a transformation of traditional images into interactive and explorable environments (through virtual reality helmets). Particular emphasis is also given to the use of artificial intelligences in the production of hyperrealistic images (static or in motion) that blur the distinctions between flesh and blood reality and iconic unreality, between perception and image consciousness, between truth and fiction.
Mandatory for second yers PhD students.
