The aim of this course is to help students develop the expertise they need to write research proposals, dissertations, and publishable journal articles and books, as well as to critically read and evaluate published social scientific research. The course will cover the logic of social science research, the kind of questions that are asked, the importance of research ethics, the selection and construction of cases and samples, and the different ways to think about causality.
The course is reserved to students of the NASP PhD programs in Economic Sociology, Organization and Labour Studies, Political Studies and Sociology and Methodology of Social Research.
