Physical and Chemical Modifications of Material Surfaces

Surface properties of novel materials are usually inadequate for advanced applications, so they should be modified in order to obtain a desired surface finish. The course will present surface modification strategies designed and developed for a diverse range of next generation materials, with examples from catalysis, biomaterials, active packaging and cultural heritage protection. Fundamental aspects will be briefly introduced and chemically and physically modified surfaces will be described, providing reliable tools for material modification.
