Lead instructor: Barbara Grespi
The course "Media Archaeology and Media Theories I" addresses issues of media theory, phenomenology and pragmatics, focusing mainly on the impact of digitization processes through a systemic approach that relates technology, cultural forms, and the analysis of communicative processes to each other. The relationship between old and new media will be approached from a media-archaeological perspective through an introduction to the discipline and its keywords (imaginary, anachronism, deep time, freak media, archive).
