The seminar is aimed at familiarizing students with different modes of empirical theorizing in political research. After clarifying the notion of "empirical political theory" and its epistemological foundations, the seminar will briefly illustrate the main theoretical frameworks used by political scientists. It will then focus on neo-institutional approaches (sociological, historical, and discursive) and their empirical applications.
