The aim of the course is to discuss in depth and in a critical way some of the more influent theories in contemporary social sciences around topics such as subjectivity and power, identity and status, affects and agency. Authors have been chosen to represent and compare different theoretical positions, offering a broad spectrum of theoretical position which may allow each student to develop an informed understanding of key issue in contemporary social theory. The course will be organized around three main themes of discussion; respectively: subjectivity and power, identity and status, affects and agency.
