The main objective of this course is to broaden the understanding of some basic features of the approach of economic sociology. It intends to provide an illustration of the different strands of research in economic sociology and labour studies. Moreover, it aims to analyse and discuss some founding contributions in these fields, with a view to get inspiration and insights. However, it is not a course on sociological thought. It does not aim to illustrate the social and scientific debate of the periods that we will cross with our investigation. It aims to identify the development of the basic ideas, which still distinguish economic sociology from other scientific disciplines.
